Following the first overseas service by the Our Lady of the Lily Band in 1995, two years later, the Our Lady of the Lily Musical Society hosted the first foreign musical formation taking part in Mqabba.
The Feast of Our Lady of the Lily 1997 saw the participation of the Stadtkapelle Groß-Siegharts, hailing from the Austrian village bearing the same name. Austria is considered by many as the land of music. The musicians in their typical Austrian attire, played traditional Tyrolan music and also organised a concert on the artistic bandstand, featuring various unusual instruments.
The two bands enjoy an excellent relationship to this very day.
